JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said travelers were preparing before traveling. In fact, if necessary they can prepare backup drivers.

This was conveyed by Muhadjir when reviewing the readiness of the Semarang-Batang toll road in dealing with homecoming. This review was carried out with the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

"For travelers who go home, please prepare themselves as well as possible, especially those who will drive remotely," Muhadjir said as quoted from his written statement, Wednesday, April 19.

"Because the facts have shown that the further the homecoming, the potential for accidents is high," he continued.

Muhadjir also asked drivers to always be careful, especially for those passing through the Semarang-Batang toll road. Even though their condition is better than the previous year, they are asked to keep themselves from being affected by disasters.

This appeal was conveyed because data on accidents related to homecoming in 2022 occurred in the East Java region, followed by Central Java and West Java. The cause is suspected to be due to fatigue after traveling long distances.

"It is better if those who drive far carry a reservoir driver, reserve, so that they can take turns on the way. Don't force yourself to be tired," he said.

Not only that, Muhadjir also appealed to travelers not to stay for long at rest areas or rest areas to prevent buildup. He said the use of the place must be appropriate, namely buying fuel, providing food, or going to the toilet.

Meanwhile, travelers who are tired and want to rest for a long time should get off the toll road through the nearest door. Or, if it is not possible, they can take advantage of a special place provided by the police.

"If it is really very tired, go out at the nearest toll exit. Kaditlantas and Pak Kapolda have prepared a place to rest for a long time, to sleep for a moment, so when driving it is fresh, and when entering the toll road again it is free of charge," said Muhadjir.

Muhadjir conveyed that his party together with the ranks of the National Police, the TNI, and related agencies continue to try to minimize the number of accidents. He also invited the participation and awareness of the travelers to participate in maintaining the safety of each and other motorists while on the road.
