KKP Asks Fish Drug Producers To Have Certificates And Register Products

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has asked fish drug manufacturers to have a certificate of Good Fish Manufacturing Practices (CPOIB) and their products to be registered. Director General of Aquaculture KKP, Haeru Rahayu, emphasized that the registered fish medicine has gone through a series of testing and evaluations so that it meets the requirements for safety, quality and efficacy and competitiveness of fishery products. "Everything is in order to ensure the quality of fish medicines that are safe for fish, the environment and humans, which in the end the product of aquaculture products meets the requirements for food safety," said the man who is often called Tebe in an official statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, April 16. Tebe added that with the various types and objectives of using fish medicines in fish cultivation, efforts are needed to control the supply, distribution and use of fish drugs that must be guided by the community and stakeholders. “ One of the requirements to obtain a fish drug registration number is quality testing by accredited domestic laboratories. KKP has provided convenience in procedures and registration times, so we always remind fish drug manufacturers to register their products,” he explained. Furthermore, Tebe added that the Serang Fish and Environmental Health Testing Center (BPKIL) is the only Technical Implementation Unit of the Directorate General of Aquaculture whose duties and functions are testing the quality, efficacy and safety of fish medicines. Head of BPKIL Serang Toha Tusihadi explained the strategic role of BPKIL Serang as a national referral laboratory whose scope of activities includes the preparation of test methods, confirmation testing/diagnosis as well as implementing proficiency tests and biorepository laboratories. Previously, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said that BPKIL Serang was one of the pillars for the KKP as a national reference laboratory. His duties range from fish disease, fish medicine, residue, fish feed to aquaculture environment. “How important this laboratory is to anticipate all diseases.
