No Longer Supporting Prabowo, PKS Refuses To Join The Great Coalition, Still Chooses To Carry Anies With NasDem And Democrats

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) stated that it would not be on the same line to support Gerindra Chair Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate (candidate) in 2024 as in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections. It is certain that PKS will refuse to join the grand coalition initiated by five political parties supporting the government. The party led by Ahmad Syaikhu remains committed to being in the Coalition for Change with NasDem and Democrats to carry the former governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Rasyid Baswedan as a presidential candidate. "The PKS president has signed a Coalition Charter with the Democratic Party and the NasDem Party," said Spokesperson for the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Muhammad Kholid, Saturday, April 8. Kholid emphasized that PKS would be perpendicular to the decision of the Syuro Council Conference to win Anies as President of the Republic of Indonesia in the upcoming 2024 election. "PKS InsyAllah will be Istiqomah perpendicular to the decision of the Syuro VIII Council Deliberative Council that PKS will carry Mr. Anies Rasyid Baswedan as the Presidential Candidate of the Republic of Indonesia," said Kholid. Previously, Gerindra Party Chair Prabowo Subianto invited Perindo Party chairman Hary Tanoesoedibjo to be able to join the Greater Indonesia Awakening coalition (KIR) with PKB. Including joining a major coalition if it is formed with other government-supporting political parties.

"We are open to Perindo, if you want to join a large coalition," Prabowo said while giving a press statement at the Kartanegara House, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 5.

Prabowo also invited UN General Chair Yusril Ihza Mahendra to join the same coalition during a meeting at his residence Thursday, April 6. "All issues are being discussed. If this time the United Nations does not support me, I am proud," said Prabowo.
