JAKARTA - The Culture Office of Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, will immediately conduct a study of the public's application to propose the Kebondalem Mosque in the Argomulyo Village area, Sedayu as a historically valuable cultural heritage or building.

"It has only been proposed by the residents there, after it is proposed we will really see whether it is a cultural heritage or not, so it has not been determined, because it is a new proposal from the community," said Head of the Bantul Culture Service, Nugroho Eko Setyanto, quoted by Antara, Sunday.

According to him, the public's suggestion that the mosque in Sedayu as a cultural heritage building be accepted some time ago, and to follow up on this, his party has held a meeting with the cultural heritage team and related parties.

"So we are closing it, so if people want to propose cultural heritage it is clear, one is that it is listed here as a cultural heritage, there is also more protection from the state in the cultural heritage," he said.

He explained that the requirements for buildings or structures that can be proposed as cultural heritage are at least 50 years old, then must also have benefits to the arts of culture, benefits to education, as well as related religions and others.

"So if it's only 50 years, it's not certain, because if for example he doesn't have value to culture, the education does not meet the requirements, because there is no value. That's why the mosque in Sedayu after the meeting will have a study," he said.

He also said that the proposal for the mosque, which is located in Sedayu, was also due to the plan to build a Toll Road which was planned to cross the Sedayu Bantul area, so that in conducting a study it must also be careful so that problems do not arise in the future.

"That's why we are also careful, because why propose it only now, so we have to be careful, frankly we have to be careful," he said.

According to him, currently in Bantul Regency there are 172 cultural heritages, in the form of buildings, pavilions, then in the form of structures, as well as objects. The existence of cultural heritage has been regulated in the law.
