JAKARTA - The police continue to investigate a traffic accident involving a luxury Mercedes Benz with a motorbike on Jalan Masjid Almakmur No.99, Pejaten Timur, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. The victim who died was identified as Syamil (18), and a colleague named Bayu.

Head of Traffic at the South Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Bayu Marfiando, said that so far 7 witnesses have been questioned.

"We are still in the process, we have examined 7 witnesses," said Bayu when confirmed, Friday, March 31.

Bayu revealed, based on the initial examination, the cause of the accident was due to the victim running a red light.

"So far, the conclusion is that this motorbike ran a red light. So it caused an accident," said Bayu.

However, the police are still examining the perpetrators and witnesses to find out exactly what the case is.

Meanwhile, N as Syamil's brother said that if it was true that his younger brother had run a red light, then he asked for CCTV footage of the incident.

According to N, if his younger brother really runs a red light, it is not permissible for the Mercedes Benz driver to go at high speed and try to escape, after being involved in an accident.

"Besides all that, CCTV is not clear. The crasher tried to escape." he concluded.

This accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, March 12. Syamil died at the scene, while Syamil's colleague, Bayu, was in critical condition and was being treated at the hospital.

Information said that the Mercedes Benz with the police number D1127-DQ was driven by MMI, who is suspected to be the son of a high-ranking police officer in NTB and the son of an old artist.
