PT PLN (Persero) has successfully completed the Java-Madura electricity interconnect, which was marked by the success of providing electricity for the first time (energy) of the electricity network through the 150-kilo Volt (kV) High Volt (kV) Circuit 3 High Volt Cable Channel which connects the electricity of the two islands.
Director of New Renewable Project and Energy Management, Wiluyo Kusdwiharto explained, the 150 kV Circuit 3 Kewall-Bakalan Tx SKTT complements three other electricity infrastructure development projects that strengthen the electricity supply system to Madura Island, namely the 150 kV (GI) Main Substation (kilo Volt) Kewall Extension, 150 kV Bangkalan-Tx High Voltage Air Line (SUTT) and GI 150 kV Bangkalan Extension.
"Services will continue to be provided to meet the needs of the Madurese community through the administration of voltage on the four National Strategic Projects," Wiluyo told the media, Saturday, March 25.
Wiluyo also explained that these four projects were successfully completed at the strength and efforts as well as thanks to the good synergy of PLN Group and the Government and related stakeholders.
"This electrical infrastructure can be faster than the target time set, this is clear evidence of PLN in showing its commitment to providing the best service to the community," he said.
Currently, the interconnection between Madura Island is supported by two sirkits, namely one from SUTT and SKTT 150 kV Ujung-Gilitur and one sirkit from SUTT and SKTT 150 kV Kenjeran-Bangkalan. The construction of SKTT and SUTT 150 kV Kewall-Bangkalan (Sirkit 3 & 4) will strengthen the reliability of electricity on Madura Island.
General Manager of PLN East Java and Bali Development Main Unit (UIP JBTB), Muhammad Ramadhansyah explained, despite facing quite heavy obstacles related to the COVID 19 pandemic and system challenges, the development of electricity infrastructure can be carried out smoothly. Even the energy is carried out faster than targeted at the end of April 2023.
"With the reliability of the electricity system on Madura Island, of course people with various economic activities such as the tourism sector and even industrial needs can be served more optimally," said Ramadhansyah.
Ramadhansyah added that religious activities, which currently coincide with the month of Ramadan, can run more smoothly with this increase in electrical reliability, considering that Madura Island is identified with various religious community activities.
"The provision of the first voltage on electricity infrastructure is expected to improve electricity services on Madura Island so that it is more reliable and can meet the needs of the community," said Ramadhansyah.
He explained that the work on the 150 kV Circuit 3 Kewall-Bakalan Tx SKTT was carried out by prioritizing the K3 principle (Health and Safety of Work) so that it was successfully completed with zero accidents. Furthermore, PLN will pursue the work of Sirkit 4, so that this year it can be given the first voltage so that electricity reliability will be more optimal.
