Puan's Head Rat Karikatur Uploaded By BEM UI, PDIP: It's Not Appropriate For Students To Say Their Mothers

JAKARTA - PDIP politician, Hendrawan Supratikno, responded to the steps taken by the University of Indonesia Student Executive Board (BEM UI) to criticize by uploading the caricature of the head of the head of the Speaker of the DPR, Puan Maharani.

He considered that the group of students should not convey insults or demean reason.

"It feels inappropriate for students to convey under-investigated swearing, as long as it sounds, demeans reason," Hendrawan told reporters in a written statement, Thursday, March 23.

The criticism was even called Hendrawan with the term Javanese, waton suloyo. "(This means, red) important origins are different and attract attention," he said.

Instead of making this kind of image, he considered groups of students to have the courage to have discussions with parliament. Arguing for the progress of the nation, said Hendrawan, is considered more appropriate.

Moreover, lawmakers have always paid attention to the aspirations of students on campus. Hendrawan said the DPR RI, including the Legislation Body (Baleg) often carry out work visits to campus to absorb the aspirations of the community.

"We always hope that the campus will provide complete and in-depth input," said Hendrawan.

"The steps of the people's representatives to discuss, argue, openly and fundamentally," continued the member of the DPR RI from the PDIP faction.

In his Twitter upload on the @BEMUI_Official account, this group of students criticized the DPR RI's stance on the ratification of the Job Creation Perppu (Ciptaker). They displayed an animated video of the DPR RI Building and two rats.

Still in the same animation, the parliament building looks divided and Puan Maharani's caricature appears as a rat. "We don't need the People's Robbers Council," the animation reads.

This animation is equipped with a thread that states that the DPR is dilapidated because it ratifies the Ciptaker Perppu. Apart from being considered not to involve the public, this ratification is considered to threaten the rights of workers and the community.

"The council in the chair there is no longer a'representation' but the 'expressors', namely the laborers, the slanderers of the people, and even the opponents of the constitution," BEM UI wrote in the thread.
