There Are 124 Rukyatul Hilal Points To Determine The Beginning Of Ramadan 1444 H On March 23, 2023

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ministry of Religion has determined 1 Ramadan 1444 Hijri on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

"Earlier we agreed by consensus that 1 Ramadan 1444 Hijri falls on Thursday, March 23, 2023 AD," said Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas when giving a statement on the determination of 1 Ramadan 1444 Hijri, Wednesday, March 22, evening.

Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil added, based on 124 rukyatul hilal points throughout Indonesia, there are several people who have reported seeing the hilal as reported by the Director of Islamic religious affairs and sharia development.

"Therefore, based on the history of the position of hilal throughout Indonesia, it is already above the horizon and has met the criteria of the Mabims and the report of rukyatul hilal (observation of the hilal)," he said.

"This is the result of the Isbat trial that we have just held, of course we agree on it together," he added.

Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil also hopes that with the results of the Isbat session, all Indonesian Muslims can perform Ramadan fasting together.
