Agree To Replace The Position Of Mayor Of West Jakarta, Chairman Of The DKI DPRD: Ordinary Rotation

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, opened his voice about the change of position for the Mayor of West Jakarta proposed by the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono.

Heru submitted a proposal to the DPRD to replace Yani Wahyu Purwoko with Uus Kuswanto as Mayor of West Jakarta. According to Prasetyo, this change of position is a common thing in employee mutations.

"Yes, there is a fit and proper test (Uus becomes the Mayor of West Jakarta), but it's a normal rotation," Prasetyo told reporters, Monday, March 20.

Prasetyo also admitted that he did not know when Uus would be inaugurated as Mayor of West Jakarta. The PDIP politician also did not know about Yani Wahyu's position after he was no longer the mayor.

"I don't understand, I was only given a letter to do a fit and proper test (to Uus)," said Prasetyo.

Today, Uus underwent a fit and proper test as a candidate for Mayor of West Jakarta in the room of the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD. uus replaces Yani Wahyu Purwoko, who has served as Mayor of West Jakarta since October 13, 2021.

In Law Number 29 of 2007 concerning the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, it is mandated that the mayor or regent can be appointed by the Governor through considerations from the DKI DPRD. As a result, the DPRD approved Uus to be appointed Mayor of West Jakarta.

Uus was proposed by Heru to become Mayor of West Jakarta on March 16. After this fit and proper test, Uus admitted that he did not know when he would be officially appointed to lead West Jakarta.

Uus himself served as Mayor of West Jakarta from September 2020 to October 2021. His position was replaced by Yani Wahyu Purwoko by former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

After that, Uus was appointed as Assistant for People's Welfare for the DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary in 2021 until now. He was also appointed as Acting Regional Secretary in 2022, before his position was filled by Joko Agus Setyono as the definitive Regional Secretary.
