JAKARTA - Police officers blocked two sections of Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Gambir District, Central Jakarta with a concrete mcb coated with barbed wire on Monday, March 20, noon. The closure of the road was the result of an Alumni Brotherhood demonstration (PA) 212 related to the rejection of the Israel National Team (Timnas) to come and compete in the U-20 Indonesia World Cup. From VOI's observations in the field, there were not too many PA 212 masses who visited the Horse Statue area, Central Jakarta to hold the demonstration. However, the police officers have been on standby to secure access roads to the State Palace. With a concrete layer of 150 meters long, the blockade was to dispel mass movements in the event of a turmoil. In addition, water barriers were also seen in every corner of the courtyard of the demonstration area. In fact, two tactical vehicles were also alerted at the left intersection of the road. Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Komarudin, said that to guard the action in the Horse Statue area, Central Jakarta, his party had deployed 1,700 police personnel. "There were 1,700 personnel," said Komarudin when confirmed by reporters, Monday, March 20. Kombes Komarudin added, traffic diversion was only carried out in the horse statue area. Road blockades were only carried out on Merdeka Barat Street in the direction of M.H Thamrin and the State Palace. "While heading west independence we were transferred to the horse statue," he said.
