NORTH MINAHASA - The high intensity of rain caused flash floods in Klapit Village, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province (Sulut).

Now that the disaster has receded, the North Minahasa Regency Government (Pemkab) together with the TNI apparatus have worked hand in hand to help residents clean up debris and flash flood mud.

The Regent said the flash flood occurred on Saturday, March 18 at around 13.00 WITA, due to high rainfall which lasted for two hours.

He explained that the government through related agencies together with residents assisted by TNI officers cleaned up the debris that closed the access road to the Bitung city and also the houses of residents affected by the flood.

In addition to cleaning up the flood debris, the North Minahasa Regency Government also provided rice assistance, ready-to-eat food and health services.

Based on data from the North Minahasa BPBD, there were about five houses flooded with mud and flood debris, causing moderate damage and four houses suffered minor damage, there were no casualties in the incident.

The Regent said that after receiving information about this incident, the Regency Government reviewed the location.

The Regent said that because of the high rainfall around Mount Klapit, it came like flash floods and stones, and the wood that then spilled into the village until it hit a resident's house.
