Central Sulawesi Police Urges Residents Not To Panic About Arresting 5 Terrorists In Palu And Sigi

Head of Subbidpenmas Polda Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) Kompol Sugeng Lestari appealed to the local community not to panic after the arrest of 5 terrorist suspects in Palu City and Sigi Regency.

"The public is advised to remain calm and carry out activities as usual. With the arrest of five suspected terrorists, it indicates that there are still people who do not want development in Central Sulawesi Province to run smoothly, safely, and conducively," said Sugeng Lestari in Palu, Central Sulawesi, Friday, March 17, quoted by Antara.

Previously, Densus 88 Anti-terror arrested five terrorist suspects in Palu City and Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi, Thursday, March 16. The five of them are affiliated with the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) network.

"The 5 terrorist suspects arrested are the JI terrorist network group in Central Sulawesi province," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, in a statement received by VOI, Friday, March 17.

At least four of the five suspects were arrested by Palu City, namely AF (41), KB (52), MA (42), and ZA (42). While the other 1 was arrested in Sigi RA Regency (46).

During the arrest, the police also searched the search, secured 13 books, three bundles of documents from a foundation, a machete, five throwing knives, a folding knife, three telescopes, nine arrows, and an air rifle.

The National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88 Team conducted searches in two places in Sigi Regency and Palu City, Central Sulawesi Province, on Thursday afternoon at around 15.35 WITA.

The search was carried out in Tinggede Village, Marawola District, Sigi Regency and Silae Village, Ulujadi District, Palu City.
