JAKARTA - A woman who has been reportedly working at GCHQ, Britain's intelligence, security and cyber services, has been stabbed outside a recreational center in Cheltenham.

He was taken to hospital after last week's attack in southwest England, and is still in stable condition.

A man, 29, has been arrested on suspicion of committing a criminal act of terrorism and attempted murder, police said, as reported by The National News March 16.

He was initially detained on suspicion of attempted murder, following an incident that occurred at around 9:15 a.m. on March 9.

The suspect was later arrested again under the Terrorism Act, on suspicion of committing, preparing or inciting terrorism and on suspicion of preparing acts of terrorism. He is currently being interrogated by officers from the Counter-Terrorism Police.

Assistant police chief Richard Ocone of Gloucestershire Constabulary said police believed it was an "isolated" incident.

"I want to convince those who live in the area or who are visiting the area, that we believe this is an isolated incident and we are not aware of any wider threat to community members," he explained.

"We are working with our partners at the Counter-Terrorism Police," he said.

The incident is being investigated by the South East Counter-Terrorism Police, in collaboration with the South West Counter-Terrorism Police and officers from the Gloucestershire Police.

Details of the victim and the incident were kept secret. However, it is known that the woman was sitting in the car in the parking lot of the recreation center at the time of the attack, but managed to get out of the vehicle to seek help.

According to several reports, the woman was a United States intelligence officer assigned to GCHQ.

It is known that GCHQ headquarters is 5 km from the location of the attack. The US intelligence community has strong ties to British intelligence agencies.
