RIAU - Riau Islands Police thwarted the sending of 10 prospective Indonesian migrant workers illegally to Cambodia. They plan to be employed as online gambling operators.
The Head of the Riau Islands Regional Police, Inspector General Tabana Bangun, said the 10 workers were detained at the Harborbay Port, Batam City.
"We have secured two suspects with the initials DF (21) and S (37)," Tabana Bangu when releasing the case in Batam, Antara, Wednesday, March 15.
Tabana said the disclosure of this case occurred on Sunday, March 12, 2023, after the police received information about the sending of prospective migrant workers abroad through the Port of Harborbay non-procedurally.

The Kapolda explained that the two suspects with the initials DF and S who were arrested by the police acted as intermediaries and escorts of illegal migrant workers to Cambodia.
"We have also named one suspect as a DPO (wanted list) who is currently suspected of being abroad," he added.
The two suspects are subject to Article 81 in conjunction with Article 83 and or Article 4 in conjunction with Article 10 of Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons.
