JAKARTA - Chairman of the Crescent Star Party (PBB) Yusril Ihza Mahendra said that the map of the coalition and presidential candidates that will contest the 2024 presidential election depends on the attitude issued by the PDI-P (PDIP).

He said the attitude of the PDIP regarding the presidential candidate he would carry or the direction of the coalition depended on the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"I think if PDIP has decided on an attitude, automatically it will be formed, there will be a coalition in the presidential nomination. Because everything depends on PDIP and PDIP depending on Mrs. Mega actually," said Yusril at the PPP DPP Office, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 13.

According to him, the direction of the map of the presidential and coalition candidates is not clear even though the registration of the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs is only six months away.

"(Registration) in September and no coalition formation has yet been formed, forming a candidate pair in the upcoming 2024 presidential election," he said.

PDIP, added Yusril, as the largest political party in parliament, has yet to determine the presidential candidate he will carry.

"In PDIP itself, we also haven't decided whether to support Pak Ganjar, whether to support Mbak Puan, or what. Until today there has also been no decision," he said.

Although several names of presidential or vice presidential candidates are often mentioned as being carried in the 2024 presidential election, only a few political parties have actually issued official decisions regarding the figure they carry.

"What seems to be a candidate who supports Pak Anies from the explicit Nasdem party, but other parties are still being disbursed," he added.

Yusril said that until now the United Nations has not set a presidential candidate to be promoted in the 2024 presidential election, nor has it been the coalition of political parties.

"For the coalition, we are still waiting for other developments," he also said.

He said the presidential candidates to be carried by his party would depend heavily on the coalition that was formed, in which he said the coalition that was formed would depend on the PDIP's attitude.

"Who will decide, it really depends on the coalition that is formed. So for now the discourse has developed, but until today the PDIP has not decided on an attitude," he explained.

Yusril said his meeting with the General Chair of the United Development Party (PPP) Muhamad Mardiono today was also intended to discuss potential figures to be promoted in the 2024 presidential election.

"Earlier, Mr. Mardiono and I also discussed the criteria, we have stopped many candidates for national leaders, have knowledge and experience to become leaders, presidents and vice presidents in the future," said Yusril.

During the meeting, which lasted about two hours, the chairman of the PPP DPP Achmad Baidowi, the Secretary General (Sekjen) of PPP Muhamad Arwani Thomafi, the Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the United Nations Dwianto Badminton, and the Secretary General of the United Nations Afriansyah Noor were also present.
