The eruption of Mount Merapi affected ash rain at a number of points in Boyolali Regency, Central Java Province (Central Java).

Head of the Emergency Section of BPBD Boyolali Rima Kusuma said several agencies were deployed to clean up the school environment affected by ash rain in Tlogolele Village, Selo District, Boyolali today, Monday, March 13.

Tlogolele Village Secretary Neigen Achtah Nur Edy Saputra said that ash rain had an impact on several schools in his area.

"There are two schools in Tlogolele Village, one kindergarten, one raudhatul athfal, and one madrasah tsanawiyah (which needs to be cleaned), including all public facilities it also needs to be cleaned from volcanic ash," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of PMI Boyolali Regency, Sunarno, explained that PMI supports local governments' efforts to deal with the impact of the eruption of Mount Merapi in vulnerable areas.

In addition to deploying volunteers and doctors to help residents affected by the Merapi ash rain, according to him, PMI distributed thousands of masks to residents in areas affected by ash rain.

"PMI will also conduct an inspection of the water storage in areas affected by volcanic ash. Water that has been mixed with volcanic ash will be replaced with clean water," he said.
