JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian appealed to all regional head candidates to the legislature for compliance with tax obligations. In fact, if possible, transparency can be carried out, so that the Director General of Taxes to the Ministry of Finance can convey tax-abiding candidates.

"Of course the government appeals to these candidates, both national and legislative regional heads, to comply with their tax obligations and tax obligations if they can be made transparent," Tito told reporters from Astor Ballroom, South Jakarta, Monday, March 13.

"Later, the Ministry of Taxation can also convey, I repeat, the Director General of Taxes, the Ministry of Finance can convey which candidates have reported, which candidates have not reported yet," he continued.

According to him, if all levels from regional heads to legislatures obey the tax. So, the community thinks that the leader will obey and be effective in using the tax proceeds.

"So it becomes a big wave to spur tax compliance, regardless of the tax issue it is a case but we believe that the government has good faith for what citizens obey taxes and use taxes as effectively as possible," he concluded.

Previously, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma'ruf Amin, reminded that the upcoming 2024 General Election (Pemilu) should not interfere with government programs. Moreover, the tax issues that have recently been discussed. He hopes that the community will continue to obey and support government programs.

"The election should not be the cause of the reduction in taxes, and also the issue of cases that occur in taxation. Compliance with taxes, that's part of our development is financed by the proceeds of taxes. Therefore, don't let this tax also be disrupted.
