Jokowi Asks To Strengthen Synergy Of The Judicial-Mahkamah Agung Commission

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called for the synergy between the Judicial Commission (KY) and the Supreme Court (MA) to be actively strengthened by both parties to maintain and uphold the honor, dignity, and behavior of judges.

"The synergy between the Judicial Commission and the Supreme Court needs to be strengthened to maintain and uphold honors in order to maintain the dignity and behavior of judges which are an important part of achieving Advanced Indonesia which we aspire to," Jokowi said in a broadcast seen on the official YouTube channel of the Judicial Commission, Monday, March 13, which was confiscated by Antara.

The show was part of President Jokowi's directives which were featured in the series of submissions of the 2022 KY Annual Report.

The President reminded that as partners of the Supreme Court, KY must continue to collaborate to ensure fair legal certainty and answer the community's sense of justice.

Jokowi emphasized that the Indonesian government always supports every step taken in order to improve the quality of judicial services.

"We must actively record complaints from the public, seekers of justice, and take concrete steps to ensure a sense of justice," he said.

The President appreciated KY's hard work in maintaining the rise of the judiciary, including through the submission of annual reports openly to the public.

"The role of the Judicial Commission in judicial reform is very important to carry out an independent external supervisory function so that judicial power prioritizes justice accountability," said Jokowi.

Meanwhile, Chairman of KY Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata revealed that the institution he led was recorded to have received 2,925 public reports related to alleged violations of the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct of Judges (KEPPH) throughout 2022.

Of this number, he said, 1,662 of them were submitted directly by the public to KY, while the other 1,263 were in the form of copies.

DKI Jakarta is the province with the highest number of reports of KEPPH violations to KY throughout 2022, namely 316 reports, followed by East Java 181 reports, and North Sumatra 159 reports.
