Deputy Director of Drug Investigation at the Southeast Sulawesi Police AKBP Debby Asri Nugroho said a young man with the initials DA (23) from Konawe Regency was threatened with the death penalty for allegedly being a drug dealer of one kilogram of methamphetamine that was arrested in Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi.

"The suspect was charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) subsidiary Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of death penalty, maximum imprisonment of 20 years," said AKBP Debby Asri Nugroho when releasing the arrest case accompanied by the Head of Public Relations of the Southeast Sulawesi Police, Kombes Pol Ferry Walintukan, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 13.

He revealed that his party arrested the suspect starting with public information on February 1, 2023, regarding the illicit trafficking of narcotics in the Kendari City area.

Debby said that the suspect DA had long been the target of investigating the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate and managed to arrest the suspect on Wednesday, March 8.

"Officers conducted an investigation for approximately one month and succeeded in arresting the suspect on March 8, 2023 at around 21.00 WITA," he said.

Furthermore, Debby said the suspect was arrested at a boarding house in the Kambu Village area, Kambu District, Kendari City.

He revealed that from the arrest of the suspect DA from Puduria Village, Wonggeduku District, Konawe Regency, the police confiscated evidence of suspected methamphetamine weighing 1,165 grams or 1.1 kilograms.

"We have secured more than 1.1 kilograms of evidence from two crime scenes. At the first crime scene we confiscated 412 grams at the boarding house on Jalan Karisma, Kambu Village and at the second crime scene on Jalan AH Nasution, Lorong Solata, Kambu Village, we again secured 753 grams of crystal methamphetamine," he explained.

In addition to methamphetamine, the police also confiscated a mobile phone which was allegedly used as a transaction tool, dozens of pipettes, duct tape, two digital scales, up to hundreds of empty sachets of various sizes including an automatic motorbike.
