The Indonesian Army (AD) has established a public kitchen to serve food needs for 1,100 landslide disaster response volunteers on Serasan Island, Natuna Regency, Riau Islands Province (Kepri).

"We are here to establish a field kitchen on the orders of the Commander of Korem 033 Wirapratama, as well as our goal to help the community with this disaster," said Deputy Commander of Denbekang I/5A Tanjungpinang Major (Jba) Mujur Sitompul, as well as the person concerned with the Field Kitchen. The main command post for responding to the Serasan landslide disaster and East Serasan at PLBN Serasan, told Antara in Sunday (12/3).

He said that providing needs for volunteers and disaster response supporters could be met thanks to the joint synergy between Denbekang and the Serasan community.

"We can provide three meals as good as breakfast, lunch and dinner thanks to community support to be able to serve 1,100 people," he said.

Meanwhile, specifically for the field kitchen, he said, Denbekang has deployed 21 personnel since the field kitchen was established on March 9, 2023.

"We specifically serve the needs of volunteers and supporters of approximately 1100 people, the kitchen has two more for refugees, one for volunteers and supporters," he said.

He also said that the need for materials was encouraged through BNPB from donations from donors and for the menu to adjust the existing materials.

"Hopefully our presence, especially Korem 033, will be able to help the community and volunteers in facing this difficult time," he said.

He also said that so far there are no obstacles, while logistical encouragement is still available, they will be ready to serve the needs of the volunteers.

"I am also impressed by the people of Serasan for their mutual cooperation, empathy, to help each other and cooperate with us so that there is no significant hangout," said Mujur Sitompul.
