Here's How Perhutani Restores Edelweis Field In Ranca Upas, Ciwidey That Was Destroyed By The Trail Motor Community

Perhutani stated that they are ready to restore damage to environmental facilities, around the Ranca Upas tourist swamp, Ciwidey, Bandung Regency, West Java related to the damage to the Edelweis plant which was run over by the trail motorcycle community some time ago.

"As a form of our responsibility in efforts to recover damage to environmental facilities, then on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, together with members of the Edelweis Cooperative who are business partners at the Ranca Upas tourist site and local environmental activists have replanted the Bunga Rawa plant to restore the post-damaging ecosystem," said President Director of PT Perhutani Alam Wisata Lucy Mardiana in a written statement, as quoted by Antara on Sunday.

Previously, on Sunday, March 5, 2023, a video went viral in cyberspace, seen a group of motorbike trail communities crossing into a land camp in the ground of Ranca Upas, Ciwidey, Bandung Regency.

At first, the camp area filled with green grass immediately turned into a puddle of soil and mud from a trail motor tire.

Even the land planted with edelweiss flowers was damaged by the tires of the motorcycle group. The edelweiss garden is level to the ground, and none of the loose flowers remain.

President Director of PT Perhutani Alam Wisata Lucy Mardiana together with Asep Dedi Mulyadi, Head of the Regional Division of Perhutani West Java Banten expressed his gratitude to the West Java nature lover alliance and all parties who have paid attention to the incident in the tourist area of Ranca Upas, Ciwidey, Bandung Regency, for improving governance, especially in organizing events that use the tourist sites they manage.

Lucy said to accelerate efforts to restore the post-damage environment, in the near future her party will hold a rehabilitation movement involving elements of environmental activity and other related stakeholders including the media.

The temporary closure of Wana Wisata Ranca Upas from tourist visits starting March 8, 2023.

"Furthermore, all activities in the form of Trail and Offroads within forest areas are prohibited from being carried out before there is an improvement in SOPs in licensing for the implementation of events," he said.

In addition, Perhutani is also open to synergizing with all parties within the framework of pentahelix.
