UI Student Will Be Graduation Killed, Police Find Out The Motive For Suicide

JAKARTA - Melati Putri Dairly (MPD), a student of the 2019 University of Indonesia's Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP UI)'s 2019 study program (Prodi) died before graduating today, Saturday 11 March. Melati committed suicide by jumping in her apartment in the South Jakarta area and the police are conducting an investigation regarding the motive.

Head of Public Relations of the Depok Metro Police, AKP Fitri, when confirmed via cell phone, said that from the reports obtained, Melati died at her place of residence in an apartment in the South Jakarta area.

"The information we received is suspected of committing suicide at the South Jakarta crime scene. He lives in an apartment in South Jakarta," said Fitri.

He said, currently the Depok Police are coordinating with the South Jakarta Police to find out the motives or reasons for the MPD to commit suicide.

"It has not been confirmed (the motive), we still have to coordinate with the South Jakarta Metro Police. Maybe South Jakarta will investigate it," added Fitri.

Previously reported by VOI.id, Head of Public Relations Bureau and KIP UI, Amelita Lusia confirmed that MPD is a candidate for graduation who is supposed to undergo a graduation procession, today. Regarding the death of MPD, UI expressed deep condolences.

Information emerged that said MPD died of suicide. When confirmed about the news, UI refused to provide information.

This is because it is not UI's authority to explain the causes and motives of the MPD's death. "Sorry, for the motive, it is not in the right place to ask us. Hopefully it can be understood, yes," he said.
