General Manager of PLN Jakarta Distribution Main Unit, Doddy B. Pangaribuan, responded to the plan to use electric service vehicles for government officials who were instructed by President Joko Widodo.

On average, electric cars that will become operational service vehicles (KDO) use the Hyundai Ioniq 5 brand. This car brand will also be purchased by the DKI Provincial Government for use by the Acting Governor of DKI Heru Budi Hartono and other DKI officials.

According to Doddy, this type of car is still relatively safe in terms of battery capacity. Also, it does not bother officials who have a high level of mobility in carrying out their work.

"First, electric vehicles usually charge at home. Then, vehicles like Ioniq, one charge can be used at a distance of up to 350 kilometers. In Jakarta, if you go back and forth in one day, the battery will not run out," said Doddy to reporters, Friday, March 10.

Doddy admitted that PLN had received many requests for the installation of public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) in government offices and other places.

"Since the President issued an order that government agencies are required to operate electric vehicles, PLN has started to get applications to install them. We at ministry offices, parliamentary offices, public places have installed a lot," he said.

Then, to support the use of electric service cars, PLN UID Jakarta Raya will intensify the addition of SPKLU points. However, Doddy admitted that his party needed cooperation with the private sector so that the increase in the number of SPKLU could be more optimal.

"For example, from the target of installing 1,000 locations, PLN can only install 100. The rest, we cooperate. Like gas stations, it doesn't just belong to Pertamina and there is a private sector. So, the system will share the results later," he added.

For information, the procurement of electric service vehicles is mandated in Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 7 of 2022 concerning Battery-Based Electric Vehicles (Battery Electric Vehicle) as Operational Service Vehicles and/or Individual Vehicles of the Central Government and Regional Government Agencies Service.

The Presidential Instruction signed by President Jokowi on September 13, 2022, is addressed to all ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, cabinet secretaries, presidential chiefs of staff, attorney generals, TNI commanders, heads of Indonesian Police, heads of non-ministerial government agencies, heads of secretariats of state institutions, governors, as well as regents/mayors.

Based on Presidential Instruction 7/2022, the use of electric vehicles as government official vehicles can be done through a scheme for buying, renting, and/or converting fueled motorized vehicles into battery-based electric motorized vehicles in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.
