JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to explore 208 companies whose shares are owned by 134 employees of the Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu). Currently, it has been found that there are two companies engaged in tax consultants.
"What we are looking for is the tax consultant because it is related. Maybe there are two," said KPK Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring Pahala Nainggolan to reporters, Thursday, March 9.
Pahala did not specify the name of the company. However, he said the two were not owned by former Ministry of Finance official Rafael Alun Trisambodo.
Furthermore, Pahala considered it dangerous when officials at the Directorate General of Taxes turned out to have shares in tax consulting companies. This is because conflicts of interest are prone to occur.
"Why, he is related to taxpayers and taxpayers who have an interest in paying as much as possible," he said.
"Tax officers have an interest in the name of the state using their authority so that the maximum tax levy. Well, there is a risk as soon as he finds out that this one wants a lot of people. That risk is what we are looking for corruption," continued Pahala.
The KPK also ensures that it does not care about the wealth of these officials. Moreover, they have salaries or allowances.
However, they are looking for any official, especially from the Directorate General of Taxes who commits fraud.
"It's about us not having a headache. But, if he has an acceptance of his authority, that's what we are looking for," he said.
Previously reported, the KPK revealed that hundreds of employees of the Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance had shares in 280 companies.
Most of the shares are in the name of the wives of officials in the agency so that they are not recorded in the State Administrators Wealth Report (LHKPN). In fact, the company was caught having large assets and income. The debt is also at high risk.
