Claiming To Be Economic Pressure, Unemployment In Bungur, Central Jakarta Try To Steal A Motorbike

The perpetrator of the motorcycle theft named Chandra (29) could only surrender when he was arrested by the Senen Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The perpetrator was caught stealing a motorbike in the Bungur area, Senen District, Central Jakarta.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Senen Police, Iptu Asep Dadang, confirmed the arrest of the perpetrator of the motorcycle theft. The investigators are still investigating.

"The perpetrator stole a Yamaha Mio motorcycle with police number (Nopol) B 6107 PYE. The perpetrator is unemployed," said Iptu Asep when confirmed, Thursday, March 9.

Iptu Asep said the perpetrator had sold the stolen motorbike to the Sunter area, North Jakarta. The perpetrator immediately sold the motorbike at a price of Rp. 1.7 million to the collector.

"We are also still hunting for collectors, these perpetrators are unemployed. The perpetrator's confession of stealing motorbikes is due to economic factors so that they can buy food needs," he said.

Kanit further said that the perpetrator admitted that he was forced to steal a motorbike because of economic pressure. The money from the sale of the motorbike is intended for everyday life.

"We have also had a urine test and the results are negative. The perpetrator admitted that he had only stolen a motorbike once," he explained.

As a result of his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code and with a threat of 5 years in prison.
