Babileg Enters School Environment Allegedly Campaign, Cianjur Disdikpora Asks KPU And Bawaslu To Take Action

CIANJUR - The Department of Youth and Sports Education (Disdikpora) of Cianjur Regency, West Java asked school principals and teachers not to get involved in practical politics and to allow the school environment to be used as a place for campaigns because it was clearly prohibited. This request follows the campaign for legislative candidates (bacaleg) who use the school environment, Caringin Elementary School, Mekarsari Village, Cianjur District/ Head of Elementary School (SD) Disdikpora Cianjur Arifin said his party had summoned the relevant principal. "The results of the clarification from the Principal of SDN Caringin, Mekarsari Village, Cianjur District, Neneng R, said that he did not know who had come for balaleg because of the information obtained from the village head of the council members who would visit," he said when contacted as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 8. Arifin emphasized that if the prospective candidate for people's representatives for the West Java DPRD seat was facilitated by the local village head, not by the principal's permission. "Obviously, it violates because one of the state facilities is that schools cannot be fitted with the identity of political parties," said Arifin. So that his party handed over the matter to the institution concerned. "We leave it to the election organizers whether it's the KPU or Bawaslu," he said. Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Election Supervision Committee (Panwaslu) of Cianjur Subdistrict, Iyus, said he would summon the Head of Caringin Elementary School, because he was suspected of being involved in practical politics by allowing prospective West Java DPRD legislative candidates to use schools for campaigns. "We will summon the principal for questioning regarding the campaign permit in the school environment which is clearly prohibited. We will also summon balaleg who have violated Article 280 paragraph (1) letter h of the Election Law," he said. He explained in Article 280 it was stated that implementers, election campaign participants and teams were prohibited from using government facilities, places of worship and educational places. "Furthermore, we will submit these findings to Bawaslu Cianjur, to be followed up, including summoning the relevant leg," he said.
