JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said Regulation of the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Permenko PMK) No.7/2022 encourages strengthening collaboration in the context of prevention and control of zoonosis and new infectious diseases. "Permenko PMK Number 7 of 2022 concerning Guidelines for Prevention and Control of Zoonosis and New Infection Diseases, represents a common guideline for all stakeholders," said Muhadjir quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 8. Muhadjir explained that with the presence of such guidelines, it is hoped that all parties can jointly reduce the risk of outbreaks or even pandemics such as the COVID-19 pandemic, which has an impact not only on the health sector, but also on the social and economic sectors of the community. "This guide is made not only for government only, it can also be a reference for academics, non-profit institutions, the private sector, and the community to play an active role as well as to collaborate and synergize in the prevention and control of zoonosis as well as new infectious diseases in the future," he said. Muhadjir explained that Permenko PMK Number 7 of 2022 is a form of preparedness, detection, and strategic response in order to the potential for a pandemic to occur in the future. "This is because the threat of zoonosis and new infectious diseases in Indonesia is predicted to continue to increase and have the potential to have an impact on social, economic, security and people's welfare aspects," he said. Furthermore, the cross-sector policy needs to be accompanied by strengthening of communication, coordination and capacity improvements in all relevant ministries and institutions as well as the entire regional government. "This is in line with Presidential Instruction Number 4 of 2019 concerning Improvement in Prevention, Detectability, Detectation, and Responding to Disease Outbreaks, the Global Pandemics, and Nuclear Economy, Biology, and Chemistry," he said. He also asked the Ministry and related institutions as well as local governments to socialize to his staff, providing resources, as well as implementing these regulations and guidelines consistently.

"To relevant stakeholders to continue to increase their support, cooperation and collaboration so that Indonesia's capacity from the center to the regions can continue to be improved," he said. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also expressed appreciation to the Government of the United States and the Government of Australia, WHO, FAO and IFRC who have contributed to the development of public health security through support for prevention and control of zoonosis and new infectious diseases.
