Panwaslu Members Become Victims Of Natuna Landslide, Wife Survived But Children Still Lost

TANJUNGPINANG - A member of the Panwaslu Kelurahan/Village (PKD) Pangkalan, Fadli became one of the victims of a landslide on Serasan Island, Natuna Regency, Riau Islands. Chairman of Bawaslu Kepri Said Abdullah Dahlawi said that Fadli's house was buried by a landslide. Fadli managed to save himself during a landslide in Pangkalan Village. But his wife was declared missing at the time of the incident. A few hours later, Fadli's wife was found after saving herself from a landslide. Meanwhile, Fadli's son has not yet been found. When the landslide incident occurred, the 10-year-old child was still playing around the house. "If Fadli's wife has been found on Monday night, while her child has not been found. We pray and hope to be found in a safe condition," Said said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 8. Said said Bawaslu Chair Natuna Khairurrijal went to the disaster site to strengthen Fadli and his family. The Riau Islands Bawaslu ranks also collected donations to help Fadli. "We hope that the Serasan condition will return to normal," he said. According to him, Fadli's house was previously used to accommodate aspirations and information from residents related to the 2024 election supervision. This strategy is a productive initiative so that residents and people who are interested in the election do not need to go to the Panwaslu Secretariat of the 2024 Election District which is far from Pangkalan Village.

"This is a good way to increase election supervision," he said. The Joint Disaster Response Team of Serasan and East Serasan noted that as many as 12 people had been found dead. Until now, hundreds of joint officers are still searching for victims who are still buried by landslides.
