Hopefully The Draft Bill On Asset Confiscation Can Be Sent To The DPR Soon

JAKARTA - Said the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna Laoly, a draft of the Asset Confiscation Law (RUU) could be sent to parliament immediately. This legislative candidate is included in the priority national legislation program (prolegnas).

"Hopefully this year we can send it to the DPR," Yasonna said after the Stranas PK event at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, March 8.

Yasonna said the design had been completed with the harmonization process in her ministry. There are several ministries that participate in the discussion.

Furthermore, they will immediately send the draft for discussion by parliament. "This is across ministries, which will be sent to the DPR after the final," he said.

Previously, KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri said President Joko Widodo had agreed that the law could be discussed immediately.

"We and the president agreed to ask the DPR and the government to discuss the bill to become the Asset Confiscation Law," Firli told reporters in Jakarta, Thursday, March 2.

Firli said that the Asset Confiscation Bill was considered a strategic step so that officials did not carelessly submit the State Administrators Wealth Report (LHKPN). He wants this report to be more effective.

Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) again pushed for the Asset Confiscation Bill to be ratified immediately. This statement was made on Tuesday, February 7.

"I encourage the Bill on the Confiscation of Criminal Assets to be promulgated immediately and the Bill on Limiting Kartal Money Transactions to immediately begin with discussions," Jokowi said as reported by Antara.

This draft law is known to have not been discussed by the DPR RI for 10 years even though it was proposed since 2012. In fact, this law is important because Indonesia has submitted ratification instruments to the United Nation Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) and the United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crimes (UNCTOC) several years ago as a reference for the formation of the Asset Confiscation Bill.
