SOUTH KALIMANTAN - Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) requested interference or intervention from local governments (Pemda) to help register brands for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
"This is our effort to advance MSMEs in an area through brand registration which is expected to be more advanced and developing," said Acting Director General of Intellectual Property at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Razilu in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Kalsel), Tuesday, March 7, as reported by Antara.
In front of the ranks of the South Kalimantan Kemenkumham Regional Office together with the Banjarmasin City Government who visited DJKI, Razilu reminded the importance of strengthening intellectual property in the regions.
He explained that DJKI is tasked with protecting intellectual property, especially to protect brands from the same brand claims, and in 2023 it has been declared the Year of the Brand which is expected to increase the number of MSMEs that have brands specifically this year.
Currently, he said, of the 64 million MSMEs throughout Indonesia, only about 11 percent have brands specifically.
"This is our potential to help the community to be more literate in brand registration," said Razilu.
On the other hand, South Kalimantan Province is currently 16th out of all provinces, and 2nd in Kalimantan in terms of the number of applications for intellectual property registration.
