Kendari Residents Died After Their House Was Hit By A Fallen Tree

Kendari Police, Southeast Sulawesi Police said one resident in Kendari City died as a result of the victim's house being hit by a fallen tree during heavy rain accompanied by strong winds on Sunday afternoon.

Kendari Police Chief Kombes Pol Muhammad Eka Fathurrahman in Kendari, said the victim was a woman with the initials M (58) a resident in Watulondo Village, Puuwatu District, Kendari.

"We report the latest developments regarding the wind rain that occurred in Kendari City this afternoon, Sunday, March 5, 2023, that there was a death toll from one of the residents of Watulondo Village, Puuwatu District, a woman aged approximately 58 years on the initials M," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, March 5.

The former Director of Drug Investigation at the Southeast Sulawesi Police said that the victim died as a result of the house being hit by a jambu mete tree.

"The victim died when a jambu mete tree hit his house," said Kombes Eka.

Furthermore, Kombes Eka said, when there was heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, the victim and her husband were in the house. At that time, the victim did not have time to leave the house, while her husband survived after leaving the house.

Kombes Eka said the victim died in his house after a jambu mete tree fell on the victim's house.

"The victim and her husband were in the house, but her husband was able to save himself, left the house while the victim was hit with his house, resulting in injuries, blood coming out of his ear and died at the scene," explained Kombes Eka.

He added that so far his party is still monitoring throughout the Kendari City area, because due to heavy rains and strong winds, a number of trees fell.

"While we have only recorded one victim. We are still monitoring the situation in the Kendari City area, considering the large number of fallen trees," said Kombes Eka.
