Bandung Regent Claims Retention Pool Stops Floods In Baleendah Drastically

Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna admitted that there were a number of retention ponds in the Baleendah area, Bandung Regency, West Java, which drastically eliminated flooding in the area.

He said, during the administration of President Joko Widodo, according to him, there were a number of retention ponds that had been built including Andir Retention Pools and Cienteung Retention Pools. The two infrastructures were inaugurated by Joko Widodo this Sunday. On the other hand, he also admitted that he had conveyed to the President directly the points that were still often flooded in Bandung Regency. "And the President will not deny that the flood has the potential to inundate several points. For that, he also proposed to the President to rebuild lakes or retention ponds in the Tegalluar area, Bandung Regency. In the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) area, there is an area of about 3,500 hectares that can be built five lake points. "And the President will respond to it, we will officially send it," said Dadang as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, March 5. He assessed that with the construction of several other retention ponds it could eliminate the floods in Bandung Regency. Meanwhile, in the area of Bandung Regency, severe flooding usually occurred in Baleendah, Dayeuhkolot, and Bojongsoang.

In addition to causing people to evacuate, the flood also usually hampers people's access from Bandung Regency to Bandung City.

Previously, President Joko Widodo inaugurated four infrastructures in the Bandung Regency and Bandung City areas. Among them are the Cisangkuy Floodway, Andir Retention Pool, Andir Retention Pool, and Kopo Fly Over. "The total that has been built by the central government, in Bandung City and in Bandung Regency is IDR 1.26 trillion," said Jokowi during the inauguration, Sunday.
