The meeting between Gerindra Party Chair Prabowo Subianto and NasDem Chairman Surya Paloh resulted in an agreement that the two parties decided not to form a coalition in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). From this meeting, Surya Paloh promised that in the future, both NasDem and Gerindra would not carry out the election stages in a negative way. "We promise, hopefully we will be far from blaming each other, let alone slandering, complaining about each other. We want to make peace with any circumstances to build the country we love," Paloh said at the Garuda Yaksa Padepokan, Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, Sunday, March 5. According to Paloh, the relationship between NasDem who will carry Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate and Gerindra who will win Prabowo will not subside just because of different political choices. "So, from the two presidential candidates, at least the effort I want to mean is an effort to accept each other as a friendship that is not too far from each other. This limit has been reached. This has been maximized, it is solid in my opinion," he said. Continuing, Prabowo explained that the meeting of Gerindra and NasDem officials was expected to create an atmosphere of political contestation that was conducive, harmonious, and unpolarized. They do not want the 2024 election to happen like the previous elections. The agreement to respect each other's choices is the solution for Gerindra and NasDem. "That regarding the coalition, regarding the presidential and vice presidential candidates, we have agreed to respect each other's political decisions.
