So Far, 3 Political Parties Support The KPU To Appeal The Central Jakarta District Court's Decision On Postponing The 2024 General Election

So far, three political parties (political parties) have supported the KPU's move to appeal the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court (Jakpus) regarding the passing of the Prima Party's lawsuit.

In the decision on the registered case number 757/Pdt.G/2022/PN Jkt.Pst, the Central Jakarta District Court ordered the KPU not to carry out the remaining stages of the 2024 General Election.

"We agree with the RI KPU to appeal. We respect the ongoing legal process," said PPP Deputy Chairperson Amir Uskara in South Sulawesi, Friday, March 3.

Members of the DPR are reluctant to comment too far regarding the decision. However, basically his party fully supports the steps taken by the Indonesian KPU to appeal.

Meanwhile, PKB DPW Chairman Azhar Arsyad stated firmly that he refused because it violated the constitution.

Although he has not yet reviewed the verdict, there is no reason to postpone the 2024 General Election, unless there are large-scale wars and natural disasters.

"If I refuse firmly because there are many negative consequences that have the potential to appear and losses will be borne by the community. The shift in the big state agenda, especially the change of power to the succession of leadership, will be at great risk," said Azhar, quoted by Antara.

Then, the Head of Legislative Relations of the NasDem Party DPP Atang Irawan admitted that he was surprised by the Central Jakarta District Court. According to him, the two great powers that are given the responsibility to uphold law and justice, namely the Supreme Court (MA) and the Constitutional Court (MK), are not given the authority to postpone the election.

Atang supports the appeal process that will be carried out by the KPU. He asked all parties to guard the appeal so as not to set a bad precedent for the sovereignty of the people. "But strangely, the judiciary under the Supreme Court has torn the constitution so that it has tarnished democracy which is a national commitment," he said in a written statement.
