Mahfud MD: The Decision Of The Central Jakarta District Court Regarding The Postponement Of Elections So That In 2025 Must Be Fightd!

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD invited all parties to fight the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court (Jakpus) which granted the Prima Party's lawsuit by deciding to investigate the KPU postponed the election stage.

"The Central Jakarta District Court's version regarding the postponement of elections to 2025 must be fought, because it is not in accordance with its authority," Mahfud said in his Twitter account, @mohmahfudmd, Friday, March 3.

The KPU is known along with the organizers, the DPR and the government have agreed that the 2024 General Election will fall on February 14.

The agreement was made during a hearing at the Senayan Parliament Complex on Monday, January 24, 2022. Since then, all the organizing organs of the election have prepared and carried out the stages of the 2024 General Election.

Mahfud also assessed that the Central Jakarta District Court did not consider the authority of the type of case after deciding the KPU to postpone the election stages.

He emphasized that the stages and running of elections have been regulated in the constitution that is outside the jurisdiction of the Central Jakarta District Court.

"This is outside the jurisdiction, the same as the Military Court which decides the divorce case. Election judges are not civil law. The verdict is against the 1945 Constitution and the law that elections are held every 5 years," said Mahfud.

Previously, the Central Jakarta District Court granted the Prima Party's lawsuit against the KPU filed by the party on December 8, 2022. The lawsuit was registered with number 757 / Pdt.G / 2022 / PN Jkt.Pst.

The judge sentenced the defendant not to carry out the remaining stages of the 2024 General Election since the decision was pronounced and carried out the general election stages from the start for approximately 2 years 4 months 7 days.
