BATANG - Batang Resort Police, Central Java, revealed the burglary of three minimarkets in three locations by arresting three suspects.

Batang Police Chief AKBP Saufi Salamun said the disclosure of the case began with information regarding the whereabouts of the perpetrators of the theft, specialists in modern shops, gathering at a hiding place in the Gringsing District area.

"The police who received the information then conducted an investigation and arrested them at a hiding place in Madugowongjati Village, Gringsing District, on February 25, 2023, one of the suspects is still at large," he said as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 1.

Three suspects named Rofiudin Ardhiansyah (26), Adi Setiawan (31), and Prasetyo Adinugroho (23), all residents of Madugowongjati Village, Gringsing District, Batang Regency.

Another suspect with the initials JK (46) is still being chased by the police.

AKBP Saufi Salamun explained the four actors were specialists in breaking into the modern market. They committed theft at Alfamart Tersono, Indomaret Subah, and Alfamart at the Sidomulyo Limpung gas station.

From the suspect's confession, he said, apart from breaking into the three modern shops, they also carried out a similar action at the modern market, Wiradesa, Pekalongan Regency.

"Currently we are coordinating with the Pekalongan Police regarding this case," said the Chief of Police accompanied by Head of Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Andi Fajar.

The target of their crime, he said, was looking for a closed minimarket and the situation was quiet and there were no guards.

"During a quiet time, the perpetrators entered the modern shop by climbing, then broke through the roof of the shop building," he said.

In the theft case, Alfamart Terseno suffered material losses of around IDR 31 million, Indomart Subah IDR 52.1 million, and Alfamart Limpung IDR 17.6 million.

The perpetrators will be subject to Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with a maximum prison sentence of 7 years.
