Inter-Village Bridges In Bekasi Are Cut Off By Floods

BEKASI - Bridge access roads for residents between villages in East Cikarang District, Bekasi Regency, West Java, were cut off due to landslides after being hit by floods. Residents are self-sufficiently building a temporary bridge.

"Residents together with the Karangsari Village Government apparatus independently built an emergency bridge at the location of the broken road," said East Cikarang District Secretary Aris Sadikin as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 1.

He said the temporary repair in the form of a three-meter-long emergency bridge was built using bamboo tree trunk materials. The broken road access is a road that is used by local people every day.

"This road is the only access for residents of Central Kampung and so far it cannot be passed because it has been completely cut due to flooding," he said.

The handling of breaking roads in mutual cooperation by local residents is carried out so that people can return through the road, while waiting for permanent improvements from the local government.

"Earlier, it was also reviewed by the Disperkimtan and the village office that it is recommended to immediately submit a request for emergency response improvement addressed to the Bekasi Regent and BPKAD as well as known sub-districts. We hope it can be accommodated," he said.

Secretary of the Bekasi Regency Public Housing, Settlement and Land Office, Nur Chaidir, said that apart from access to the Central Village road, the flood disaster in East Cikarang District also caused the road to the Kramat Muncang TPU, Ciranggon Village, Cipayung Village to be badly damaged.

"Today, we directly inspected two locations of roads that were affected by the flood. These two roads need immediate treatment so as not to interfere with the mobility of residents," he said.

His party immediately coordinated with regional heads regarding the handling of road access permanently, including repair options using the Unexpected Cost Fund scheme during the disaster emergency response period.

"Coordination with the leadership is needed regarding handling. However, what is certain is that the two access roads were damaged due to flooding caused by heavy rains and overflowing of the Cibeet River in Ciranggon Village and the Kalen Derwak River and the Ciweak Abang River in Central Village," he said.
