JABAR - The Department of Food Security and Livestock (DKPP) of West Java Province (Jabar) applies the principle of '3 Quick' to prevent transmission of new variants of influenza virus that causes bird flu in poultry in its area.

"Animal health levels immediately responded to public reports with the principle of '3 Quick', namely Rapid Detection, Fast Reporting, and Quick Response according to the SOP for controlling bird flu," said West Java DKPP Head Arifin Soedjayana, Wednesday, February 1, as reported by Antara.

He said the agency was also intensifying counseling to the public and poultry breeders so that they would immediately report to the animal health workers if they found poultry sick or died suddenly.

In addition, according to him, the agency is increasing coaching and mentoring activities for poultry farmers so that they implement biosecurity measures to prevent disease transmission in the farm environment.

"Centering small and medium-scale commercial poultry should implement Biosecurity 3 Zones as a model for simple, efficient, practical, and effective bisekurities," said Arifin.

West Java DKPP also accompanied poultry farmers to carry out AI 3 Vaccinations Right, namely Exact Vaccines, Right For Vaccination Programs, And Right For Vaccination Engineering.

Arifin said that Avian Influenza (AI) vaccination at iik is recommended to use the AI Subtype H5N1 clade 2.3.2.

Meanwhile, the laying chicken vaccination, according to him, is recommended to use the AI clade 2.1.3 or clade 2.3.2 vaccine or a combination of clause 2.1.3 vaccine and clause 2.3.2 national production.

Arifin emphasized the importance of sanitation along poultry marketing chains to break the chain of spreading the virus that causes bird flu in poultry and minimize the risk of transmitting the virus to humans.

He appealed to the community of breeders to adopt a clean and healthy lifestyle, such as wearing masks when handling live or dead poultry and washing hands and feet using water and soap after activities.

With regard to the procurement of day-old chickens, Arifin said, farmers are advised to use chickens from farms that already have a bird flu-free certificate.

In an effort to prevent transmission of bird flu, he continued, the Department of Food Security and Livestock coordinated with the Health Office if there were findings of cases of flu-like disease transmission in residents around where cases of bird flu transmission were found in poultry.

Head of the Animal Health and Veterinary Society Division of the West Java Province Food and Livestock Security Office, drh. Supriyanto said that cases of transmission of the H5N1 influenza virus variant 2.3.4.4b had not yet been found in Indonesia.

According to him, cases of bird flu detected in Cirebon City and Cimahi City did not occur due to infection with the H5N1 influenza virus, as in Europe and America and Cambodia.

However, the ranks of animal health workers, poultry breeders, and the public are asked to be aware of the spread of new variants of the H5N1 influenza virus considering bird flu can cause mass death of poultry and disrupt the supply of meat and cause public health problems.
