JAKARTA - Chairman of the BKSAP (Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency) of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Fadli Zon, is again trusted and elected as Chairman of the SEPAC parliamentary organization (South East Asia Parliamentary Against Corruption) or the Southeast Asian Parliament Organization anti-Corruption, for the term of office of 2023-2025.

Fadli Zon, who was previously the Chair of SEPAC, was re-elected as Chair through an Assembly hearing held in Jakarta on 27-28 February 2023.

In the Assembly session, Indonesia proposed the SEPACC Regional Action Plan for 2023, which will prioritize research and advocacy of knowledge. SEPAC will provide more knowledge products to lawmakers, including through the development of regional knowledge databases on specific issues. The hope is that members of different countries can have comparative knowledge from their colleagues to help them develop better surveillance and policy development.

In the future, SEPACC will also develop regional-based knowledge products such as guidebooks, policy directions, research, reports, and assessment guidelines. SEPACC will also launch a book entitled Parliamentary Handbook on the Foreign Debt Oversight in Southeast Asia and Gap Analysis and State of Implementation of the UNCAC in the region.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Fadli Zon stated that as a parliamentary network dedicated to anti-corruption issues, SEPAC is committed to fostering, collaborating, vaccinating, and promoting good governance at the regional and international levels.

Fadli Zon also emphasized that SEPAC will continue to support lawmakers to strengthen its key role in preventing and eradicating corruption through their constitutional mandate to be more significant in maintaining democracy for the people. It is hoped that this organization will continue to carry out its mission in voicing anti-corruption values.
