JAKARTA - The survey results from the National Survey Media (Median) show that as many as 36 percent of internet citizens (netizens) want more than three pairs of candidates (paslon) for president and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 General Election. "As many as 36 percent of netizens want more than three pairs in the upcoming 2024 presidential election," said senior Median researcher Ade Irfan Abdurrahman when delivering the results of the Median survey quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 28. Meanwhile, he continued, as many as 25.4 percent of other netizens want three pairs, 16.6 percent want two pairs, and another 6 percent want one pair of presidential-cawapres candidates. "Next, 16 percent of netizens stated that they did not know or did not answer," continued Ade.Survey from this median was conducted on February 22 to 26, 2023 by deploying questionnaires through Facebook social media and the target respondents were active Facebook users aged 17 to 60 years. Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR. Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
