The Reason For Judge Agus Nurpatra's Verdict Is Lighter Than The Prosecutor's Demands

JAKARTA - The panel of judges sentenced the defendant Agus Nurpatra to a lighter sanction than the demands of the public prosecutor (JPU) in the case of obstruction of justice or obstruction to the investigation into the cause of the death of Yosua alias Brigadier J.

What are the considerations behind the sanctions decision?

For burdensome considerations or things, there are at least two records of the panel of judges. The defendant Agus Nurpatra was considered not to be honest and unprofessional as a police officer.

"The defendant was not honest in providing information in the trial, tterdawka was unprofessional in carrying out as a member of the National Police," said the judge during a trial at the South Jakarta District Court, Monday, February 27.

Then, the panel of judges also had mitigating considerations. One of them was the defendant Agus Nurpatra who had never been convicted.

"The defendant has never been convicted, the defendant still has family responsibilities," said the judge.

With this consideration, the panel of judges sentenced Agus Nurpatra to 2 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 20 million.

The verdict was lighter because at the previous trial, Agus Nurpatra was sentenced to 3 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 20 million.
