Sungai Jeratun Soluna Melimpas, Hundreds Of Houses Of Jepara Residents Embedded In Floods

Hundreds of houses in Sowan Kidul Village, Kedung District, Jepara Regency, Central Java (Central Java), were affected by flooding due to the overflow of the Jeratun Soluna River, Thursday, February 23.

According to the Daily Chief Executive of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Jepara Regency, Arwin Noor Isdiyanto, the flood began to inundate residents' houses since Thursday, February 23 at 10.00 WIB.

As a result of the overflow of river water, water entered residential areas with a height of between 50'80 centimeters (cm).

Meanwhile, the settlements affected by the flood, he said, reached hundreds because the results of the temporary data collection were around 248 families spread across RT 2 and RT 3 in RW 2.

Efforts have been made, he said, to collect data on the number of affected residents and the current needs.

In order to serve the food and drink needs of residents affected by the flood, a field public kitchen was prepared in Sowan Kidul Village.

For the logistics supply, he said, it had been proposed to the Social Service for Community Empowerment and Villages of Jepara Regency and PMI Jepara.

"Hopefully the food needs can be available as soon as possible, so that they can be used to prepare food for residents who are still staying in their respective homes," he said.

Regarding the eroded river embankment which is 2 meters long, he said, it is reinforced by plastic sacks filled with dredged soil so that the embankment does not break. Meanwhile, the number of plastic sacks provided is around 500 pieces.
