Since January February 2023, KPAI Notes There Are 119 Cases Of Violence Against Children

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has recorded the number of cases of sexual violence against children in Indonesia during January - February 2023. During those two months, there were more than a hundred cases of child sexual violence.

"There are 119 reports of cases of violence against children in 2023," said Jasra Putra, Head of the Supervision, Monitoring and Evaluation Division of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) to VOI, Thursday, February 23.

On average, the most reported cases were acts of sexual violence against children.

"At most more than 50 percent is the issue of violence against children. Both physically, psychologically and sexually. The rest are cases related to violations of children's rights starting from cluster 1-4. during January - February," he said.

This number includes cases of sexual violence against children that occurred in Bone District, South Sulawesi. A 15-year-old junior high school student in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi died after being raped by a number of perpetrators.

The victim's parents had reported the case to the Bone Police on Sunday, February 12, 2023. But unfortunately, when the victim was treated at the hospital after the rape incident, the victim died on Friday, February 17.

The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has received reports of cases of sexual violence experienced by a Junior High School (SMP) student in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi.

"Reports have been submitted regarding children who died due to sexual violence. We are currently investigating this information regarding the supervisory steps that we will take," said Head of the Supervision, Monitoring and Evaluation Division of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Jasra Putra to VOI, Wednesday, February 22, yesterday.
