JAKARTA - Member of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD William Aditya Sarana supports the plan to procure 21 electric-based service vehicles this year. This electric car will operate for the main official facilities of the DKI Provincial Government.

One thing that William noted was the fate of an old official car that still uses fuel. If later the electric service car arrives, Willam suggested that the DKI Provincial Government immediately sell the old official car under an auction scheme.

This is because, according to the PSI faction member, maintenance of official vehicles often takes up a large budget.

"It must be ensured that fossil fuel cars are sold or auctioned to save the budget. The budget can focus on other programs that are more beneficial for DKI residents," William told reporters, Tuesday, February 21.

William hopes that the shift of fossil fuel service vehicles to electric power can increase investment opportunities for electric cars in the future.

"Not only that, electric vehicles are also more environmentally friendly because they do not pollute the air. This can also reduce pollution in Jakarta," he said.

The procurement of electric-based service vehicles from the DKI Provincial Government will start running this year. The DKI Provincial Government purchased 21 electric service cars at a price of Rp800 million per unit using the 2023 APBD.

However, before this official vehicle was used, the DKI Provincial Government first compiled and issued a regional head regulation that would be signed by the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Asset Management Agency (BPAD), Reza Pahlevi, said that the number of electric service vehicles imported still did not meet the needs of all DKI Provincial Government officials.

"Our plan for this year is 21 vehicles first because the budget is large. This year it will be used by the Governor, Regional Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Inspectorate, to Head of Bappeda," Reza told reporters.

Then, for gasoline-fueled official cars that have been operated so far, the DKI Provincial Government will process the removal of assets for an open auction.

"The auction is carried out through the KPNKL (State Property and Auction Service Office)," said Reza.

Meanwhile, in 2024, the DKI Provincial Government will not budget for additional units of electric service vehicles. This is because the DKI Regional Budget next year will be prioritized in the main programs of Acting Governor Heru Budi. The procurement is budgeted again in 2025.

"Because the budget is limited, next year we will stop procurement first. Our budget (in 2024) must be prioritized to floods, health, NCICD, kemcaetan. That is a priority," he said.
