Ahead of the 2024 General Election (Pemilu), the Bandung Police have started conducting cyber patrols on social media (Medsos) to prevent hoax issues to hate speech on social media in the midst of people who are considered provocative and hate speech. Bandung Police Chief Kombes Pol Kusworo Wibowo said hoax issues or hate speech could disrupt the peace of political events because it could cause polarization in the community. "Don't let there be hoaxes, hate speech, invitations in social media that are plaguing, polarized, which can cause heat. If it's warm, it can also be called democracy, different opinions of a necessity," said Kusworo as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 20. In the implementation of cyber patrols, according to him, the Bandung Police cooperated with the Bandung District Communication and Information Office for its implementation. Kusworo emphasized that spreading hoaxes, hate speech, or black campaigners (black campaigners), could be subject to criminal sanctions. In order to be carried out optimally, Kusworo said that his party had studied the results of the analysis and evaluation (anev) of police security activities in the 2019 election. According to him, the anev was also one of the references for his party to carry out security in 2025.

"What happened in the 2019 election. We discussed it together. So that in the 2024 election it does not happen again and is conducive," he said. In addition, he also ordered Bhabinkamtibmas personnel in each region to invite the public to exercise their voting rights. "The higher the community participates in elections, the legitimacy of elections will be good," he said.
