Anticipate Social And Terrorism Conflicts, DPR Appreciates The Performance Of NTB BIN

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) appreciates the performance of the West Nusa Tenggara Regional State Intelligence Agency (BINDA NTB) in detecting and anticipating the potential vulnerabilities of social conflict to acts of terrorism that have emerged after the pandemic.

He conveyed this after holding a Working Visit Meeting (Kunker) of the Commission I of the DPR RI with the Head of Regional BIN (Binda), NTB Province, Friday (17/2/2023).

Member of Commission I DPR RI Dave Akbarshah Fikarno said that identification of conflicts is important in warding off all problems or social conflicts that occur in society.

"The work is quite good. They can explore, identify, and can also deal with potential vulnerabilities in NTB," said the Golkar Party politician in his statement, Monday, February 20.

Dave conveyed that the meeting discussed the identification of vulnerabilities in NTB, including the potential for movements that deviate from the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and the Pancasila ideology.

From the identification of existing problems, it is also explained the countermeasures and handling that have been carried out. Not to be missed, Commission I also discussed projected problems that will occur in the future as well as potential horizontal conflicts.

"Then we also discussed how the NTB situation was after the pandemic? Then also the readiness either in terms of security or there is also an infrastructure side and also BIN observations of the ability or potential infiltration, now it is also explained and explained," said the legislator for the West Java VIII electoral district.

Dave explained that one of the things that became his concern was the extremist movement and suspected terrorists in NTB. In 2022, there were two arrests of suspected terrorists in the NTB area, namely in March and June last year.

In NTB, there are several extremist movements that deviate from the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, these terrorists also start from the NTB region. Now that has been identified by anyone, how far has the movement of free terrorist convicts (Napiters) who are assimilated with the community been to what extent? We continue to monitor all of that so that similar incidents do not appear in the future," he explained.

The results of the meeting will later become one of the discussion materials when Commission I holds a working meeting with BIN including regarding the agency's budget needs. In addition, according to Dave, the results of this meeting can also be input for related partners.

"There is a short report and it will be material for us later in the working meeting with the Head of BIN. It is also material for us to see what the BIN budget needs? What needs to be added? What needs to be replaced? Or what needs to be improved? That is the input for our work in Commission I with BIN or one with other partners," said the member of the DPR RI Budget Agency.
