JAKARTA - The holding of the Powerboat Formula 1 Motorboat World Championship (F1) or known as F1H2O in Lake Toba, North Sumatra Province, is just a matter of days. Along with that, the Ministry of PUPR has completed the overall physical venue construction. As is known, the F1H2O will be held this week, precisely on Friday, February 24 to Sunday, February 26, 2023. PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the construction of the F1H2O venue had begun to be carried out by the Ministry of PUPR through the North Sumatra Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW), the Directorate General of Human Settlements since November 30, 2022 and completed February 21, 2023 (according to the contract). Until February 18, 2023, he continued, the progress of finishing work left cleaning areas, finishing funerals on the roof of Sopo Batak, and cleaning toilet facilities. "The overall physical work on venues has reached 99.97 percent, leaving area cleaning work," he said in an official statement, Sunday, February 19. Basuki said, the construction of the F1H2O venue is in Balige District with a 2022-2023 APBN budget of IDR 35.9 billion. The implementation of the work by contractor PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk includes dock work and a paddock dry supported by a stake foundation. Furthermore, the construction of 2 public toilet units, artwork and storytelling work, the construction of Sopo Batak, mobile fences, waterways, and landscapes. Basuki said the PUPR Ministry has integrated its support for infrastructure development at the Lake Toba Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP). Infrastructure support is carried out by the Ministry of PUPR in an integrated manner for the development of the Lake Toba DPSP through regional arrangements, roads and bridges, provision of raw water and clean water, waste management, sanitation, and improvement of population housing (Sariwisata Residential Area). “ For tourism, the first thing that must be improved is the infrastructure, then amenities and events, just massive promotions. That's what we have to protect properly. The principle of structuring this tourist area is to change the face of the region quickly, integrated and have an impact on the local and national economy," he said. Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Infrastructure Development Center (BPPW) of North Sumatra, Syafriel Tansier, said a number of infrastructure developments had been completed to support the tourism of the Lake Toba DPSP, including the arrangement of Ulos Huta Raja Village and Huta Siallagan in Samosir Regency. The infrastructure that has been prepared is in the form of the Final Disposal Site (TPA) of Sidikalang, Dairi Regency, the Wastewater Processing Installation (IPAL) Parapat, Simalungun Regency, and the construction of the Lake Toba KSPN toilet. "Hopefully with the implementation of events at the international level it will be a moment of economic revival through the tourism sector in the area around Lake Toba, and hope that this infrastructure can be utilized and maintained properly," said Syafriel Tansier. As the host of the F1 powerboat racing event, it is a very good opportunity for Indonesia to increase the image and attraction of Lake Toba tourism as a Super Priority Destination in the international world.
