Temanggung - Temanggung Regent M Al Khadziq said that in the Temanggung movement, all people are asked to jointly commit to making Temanggung free of waste.

Through the waste-free movement, it begins to make people aware to dispose of waste in its place, so the environment in Temanggung Regency is getting cleaner. However, as a result, the final processing place (TPA) of waste becomes overcapacity.

At that time, with a rather pessimistic thought, even if recycling cannot be carried out, at least the Temanggung movement is free of waste, it can eliminate waste from the open in Temanggung Regency so that people do not litter, for example, in ditches, rivers, roads, and the environment so that garbage is collected at least somewhere.

"Well, it's true, until today, the waste has not been managed properly, the sorting of waste at the village level, at the RT/RW level there is not all of its implementation so that the waste is still being collected into one place and finally the Public Housing, Settlement and Environmental Housing Service (DPRKPLH), which has arrived, must take the garbage that has not been sorted into the TPA," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, February 19.

This condition resulted in the TPA being filled quickly. When the Temanggung movement was first initiated, the waste that entered the TPA was only about 60 tons per day, now it has reached 120-130 tons per day.

This means that it can reduce waste that was previously to be dumped in the open, now it has entered the system even though it eventually burdened the TPA.

"But it's okay, it's the duty of the state, building a TPA is our job. The important thing is that nature is saved, it doesn't become an open trash can," he said.

It is still the work of the district government to increase the capacity of the TPA. People must also be educated, through a movement that really restores the flow of waste into the system. It must continue to be fought for in various ways.

Therefore, the Waste Council must continue to carry out activities in various ways, either through socialization, education, at sub-district waste facilitators, village waste facilitators in collaboration with the village government or through other educational movements.

Through the Education Office, a curriculum can be created for kindergarten children, elementary, junior high schools that can be understood by children so that from an early age they start to realize to put waste into the system.

Don't let the garbage get out of the system, such as throwing garbage in the yard, on the side of the road, or in the river.

Garbage must enter the system even though in the end the TPA will be full. It doesn't matter, the important thing is that it can make the environment cleaner.

In order to anticipate that the TPA does not quickly exceed the volume of waste, the community must actively sort waste from the household so that those who are disposed of to the TPA are really residual waste.

If the community and all components can sort the waste according to the type, then later the TPA will be able to live longer, not a few excess piles of waste.

If the garbage is properly sorted, the volume that reaches the TPA will be less.

He conveyed that he plans that this year at the Sanggrahan TPA an integrated waste disposal site will be built by costing more than Rp40 billion and carried out in 2023 and 2024.

On the 2023 National Waste Care Day, his party constantly invites the entire community to sort waste from home, be it organic waste, residual waste, and recycled waste.

If people actively participate in waste sorting efforts, then only garbage that is difficult to recycle or residual waste has entered the TPA. If the waste has been sorted properly, the volume that reaches the TPA will definitely be less.

The head of the Temanggung Regency KPLH, Hendra Sumaryana, emphasized that the condition of the Sanggrahan TPA has been overloaded and efforts will be made to expand in zone five and zone six with an area of about 2.6 hectares.

Development in zones five and six will be the concept, not the TPA, but the integrated waste processing site, reuse, recycle (TPST3R). So what is built is the processing.

Funds for the construction of TPST3R of around Rp44 billion are proposed to obtain an allocation from the APBN.

The chairman of the Temanggung Regency DPRD, Yunianto, said that Commission B of the Temanggung Regency DPRD had conducted an assessment in the Sanggrahan TPA area and the infrastructure was not supportive.

According to him, the Temanggung waste-free program is extraordinary, but it must also be supported by its infrastructure capabilities.

Therefore, the Temanggung Regency DPRD encourages local governments to apply for special allocation funds (DAK) of around Rp. 44 billion to support the development of the infrastructure to the relevant ministries because the district budget is unable.

It is necessary for public awareness to do a waste sort. This must indeed be trained, socialization must be carried out intensively in order to inspire the community to carry out waste sorting from the household.
