JAKARTA - The Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) Yogyakarta asked for help from the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol Indonesia to track down the whereabouts of Ahmad Munasir Rafie Pratama (AMRP), a lecturer who reportedly lost contact after attending global mobility activities at the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) in Norway.
"We submitted a request for AMRP protection through the Services and Protection of Indonesian citizens abroad, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and sent a letter to the Secretary of NCB-Interpol Indonesia to issue a 'yellow notice' for the search for missing people," said UII Chancellor Prof. Fathul Wahid as quoted by Antara, Sunday.
UII, said Fathul, has also communicated with the Indonesian Embassy in Oslo and the Indonesian Consulate General in Istanbul who have coordinated with local authorities.
The Yogyakarta Islamic University (UII) Crisis Center team has conducted a digital footprint excavation and confirmed that Ahmad Munasir has left Oslo, Norway and is in Istanbul, Turkey.

"AMRP was connected to the internet via the Virtual Private Network eduVPN connection which leads to the UII campus. The access location is around Istanbul, around 19.00-23.00 local time on February 12, 2023," said Fathul Wahid.
According to him, the information received from the Indonesian Embassy in Oslo confirmed the findings of the digital footprint.
The police in Oslo confirmed that the immigration records at Oslo Airport showed that Ahmad Munasir was no longer in the Schengen area on February 12, 2023.
"Until now, we have not been able to confirm whether AMRP has left Istanbul and headed to Riyadh. Information on the status of the boarding that we are still waiting for from Turkish Airline will reveal more clearly," he said.
Previously, Ahmad Munasir traveled to Oslo, Norway on February 4, 2023 in the context of campus duties to participate in global mobility activities at the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) in Norway.
Munasir was supposed to return February 12 via Istanbul on a Turkish Airlines flight and landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Thursday (16/2) at 18.00 WIB.
