Extortion Due To Landslides, The Trans Timor Line Is Predicted To Be Normal Next Week

JAKARTA - The Kupang Regency Government, East Nusa Tenggara Province, predicts that the trans Timor route, which was paralyzed by landslides, will turn off the road, will be normal next week.

"The fully paralyzed Timor trans lane is predicted to return to normal next week to see the situation in the field," said Head of the Kupang District Public Works Office, Teldi Sanam, quoted from Antara, Sunday.

This was conveyed in connection with the landslide in the hilly area in Takari District, Kupang Regency, on Friday (17/2) night, precisely at kilometer 73.

The hilly area that landslides and closes the road is 300 meters long, while the height reaches 20 meters, because of that, he said, it took a long time for the process of dredging all the landslide material that fell to cover the road.

He said that currently vehicles carrying passengers from Belu Regency, Malacca Regency, Central Timor Regency (TTU) and South Central Timor (TTS) were forced to stop and field their passengers.

"There is an alternative way, but it can only be passed on foot and quite a long way," he said.

He said that an estimated tens of thousands of people pass by each day at the location.

The Kupang Regency Government also said that he was looking for alternative roads so that access to transportation across Timor Island could return to normal, while waiting for the handling of landslide materials to be completed.

He explained that signs of landslides had been seen last week, but the landslides that occurred were still small and were never expected to cause a large landslide.

Currently, he said, to help speed up the dredging process, his party has deployed four excavators.
